Interesting stuff:
If you're interested in studying health science at university - then this is a great starting point for your career goals. As this course has been designed to give you a foundational knowledge of your first-year university subjects, you will be guided through science subjects like human biology, chemistry, and physics. You'll also be taught about diseases across the world, and use this knowledge to help identify human body imbalances through the use of case studies and scenarios. Finally, we add to your skill level by teaching you about communicating at the university level with skills such as referencing, improving study habits, and creating your university schedule.

This qualification provides an overview of human anatomy & physiology as it applies to working in the health industry. Regardless of which health or science future you're heading towards, the Certificate IV in Preparation for Health & Nursing Studies will give you a great starting point to understanding what is involved in these industries. On top of anatomy & physiology, we will teach you other important things such as understanding medication, analysing disease, preventing infection, and using medical terminology.

A really important part of this qualification is getting you ready for university and further study. This involves helping you with research, university referencing, time management, university applications, and career guidance. We love helping young people find their future - so it's important to us to make sure they are ready for further education.

A lot of our students use this qualification as a pathway into university, as a completed Cert IV will satisfy the entry requirements into most Australian Universities. We love alternative pathways - and each year more and more universities are getting on board with accepting students who have not studied the typical ATAR Pathway. Health Science Hub works with universities across WA to ensure that we provide them with exceptional students who are university ready and have a passion and education in the area that they want to study in.

If you are wanting to study a health science related degree/qualification - then this course is highly recommended for you.

Entry Requirements:

Studying at a Cert IV level is not 'easy'. There is certainly an academic nature to this level of qualification and we want to make sure that you're capable at this level. This is why we have entry requirements. It's really important that you are able to show us that you meet these requirements or some other form of evidence for academic achievement - otherwise we cannot approve your application.

It's also worth noting that we don't recommend the Cert IV for year 11 students. We feel that it's too big of a jump going from year 10 into a Cert IV program - therefore we will probably offer you a Cert III qualification for year 11 and then invite you back for a Cert IV in year 12.

Here is what you need for your application:

  • Completed OLNA or NAPLAN. This means that NAPLAN was band 7 in year 9, or your OLNA shows 3 for all areas.
  • A recent school report showing that you have achieved C grade minimums in English, Science and Maths. If you cannot show required grades, a previous completed certificate will also satisfy this entry requirement.
